“Pretty Polly” stockings are made by Hibbert and Buckland, Ltd., of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

The “Pretty Polly” Company was formed originally as a marketing agency for the distribution of stockings. Later, and for a comparatively short period, the Company manufactured its own stockings in addition to its principal function of being a selling organization.

In 1927 “Pretty Polly” commenced its association with Hibbert and Buckland, Ltd., and rapidly developed into the sole agency for that Company’s stockings, which it then handled to the exclusion of those of any other manufacturer.

Both the Companies were founded shortly after the 1st World War, and in both cases by men with many years of practical experience in the actual
