This book is not intended to be a technical exposition of the method by which fully-fashioned stockings are made.

The text has been written, the diagrams drawn and the photographs selected with the intention that those who have never seen a stocking factory will have a fairly clear picture of the processes involved in the production of fully-fashioned stockings.

It is hoped that any technicians or manufacturers into whose hands this book may fall, will understand and appreciate these facts and overlook the omissions that have been made to achieve simplicity and clarity.
