In 1960, at Castel Goffredo (Mantova), the Italian capital of stockings: Calze BC is born.
In 1968 the company undergoes a significant improvement in quality: the production becomes more industrialised by use of a totally centrally-managed and fully-integrated in-house manufacturing process. The manufacturing plant becomes larger in order to incorporate all stages of manufacture under one roof, and in the years following this enlargement and streamlining, BC establishes an significant role in the International market.
The company also dedicates greater resources to research and development, widens its product range and creates the leading brand ‘Donna BC’. The company has the capacity to expand its share of the market in foreign countries, and due to the recognised consistency of the brand, BC concentrates its marekting efforts on the international market, reuslting in particular success and presence in Eastern Europe. New product lines emerge and grow, including the elegant and fashionable ‘Jolie Folie’ and the children’s range ‘Aquilone’. The position of the company strengthens as result of targeted goals and its reputation grows. Use of modern technology, competent, well-motivated staff and a commitment to quality resources ensures that Calze BC’s evolution never stops.
The company prides itself on its complete, integrated production system: the dedication of mainatianing the excellence of Calze BC guarantees reliability in every phase of production, all strategically-managed and completely in-house allows total control at every stage i.e. weaving, sewing, dyeing, fixing and packing.
No fewer than 160 circular machines produce every kind of article for women and for children in different yarns (including nylon, Lycra™, cotton etc.). By the use of total and unparalleled Quality Control control over the yarns used in the hosiery, the quality and the sizing of the product are assured.
White tubular goods that emerge from the weaving stage are cut and sewed into pairs, finally becoming real stockings with patterns with the attention to detail that BC’s customers have come to expect. Here the weaving and the sizing are still controlled with high-tech machinery; and a further quality check is made before the goods are transferred for dyeing.
AFter dyeing, the products are boarded with steam at 120°C and ironed with infra-red rays at 90°C. Then the stockings are prepared according to specific requirements for each individual style within the Company’s contemporary range. Stockings and hosiery are constantly checked, and only when they exceed the Company’s stringent standards, are they officially deemed ready for the market.
