Fashioning points

When stockings are knitted on two machines, one for the leg and the other for the foot, each loop or stitch of the knitted fabric is carefully placed on a separate point of the transfer bar (above)...

... from this transferred to the needles of the ‘Footer’ machine (centre).

 

The ‘Footer’ machine knits in exactly the same way as the machine that knits the legs (below).
